California is a no-fault divorce state which means you will not be punished for wrongdoing and can get a divorce even if the other person does not want one.

If you have been served with divorce paper you have 30 days to respond. If you do not respond, the court can decide the case without your input.

For those that have been married less than 5 years, have no children, do not own/owe much, do not want spousal support, and can agree to split any property you have, you can conduct a summary dissolution which only takes 6 months.
